Write and enrich ecommerce product listings from supplier data
Last updated
The problem
Online stores add products faster than anyone can write good listings. Supplier feeds arrive with cryptic titles, missing attributes and copied descriptions, so pages are thin, filters don't work, and marketplaces reject or bury the items.
How the agent works
The agent takes a new or updated product from your supplier feed, spreadsheet or product system. It reads the supplier data, spec sheets and images you provide, fills in structured attributes (size, material, color, compatibility and so on) using only facts present in those sources, and drafts a clear title, a description and bullet points in your brand voice and within each channel's length rules. It marks every attribute it could not find instead of guessing, and flags claims that need proof, such as safety, health or certification statements. Drafts go to a review queue, and approved listings are published to your store or marketplace in a batch.
Setup steps
- Export a sample of products with their supplier data and pick 20 to 50 for a pilot
- Write a listing style guide: title formula, voice, banned claims, and required attributes per category
- Give the agent each channel's rules (title length, required fields) for your store and marketplaces
- Tell it to leave a field blank and flag it when the source does not state the fact
- Review the pilot drafts side by side with the source data, then fix the style guide
- Run it on new products in batches with a person approving each batch before publishing
Tools that can do this
- Shopify or WooCommerce
- Akeneo or another PIM
- Google Sheets + an LLM
- Zapier or Make
- n8n + an LLM

Human in the loop
A merchandiser approves listings before they publish, and anyone checking regulated claims (safety, health, certification, origin) verifies them against documents. Price and stock data come from your systems, never from the model.
Risks and guardrails
Invented specifications cause returns, complaints and possible legal trouble, so require source-backed attributes and flag gaps. Do not copy competitor or manufacturer copy you do not have rights to. Marketplaces have rules on titles and claims and can suspend listings that break them. Duplicated, generic text across many pages can perform poorly in search.
ROI notes
Track time from product arrival to live listing, the share of listings with complete attributes, marketplace rejections, and return reasons tied to listing errors, before and after. The value is faster, more complete listings with a person still owning accuracy.
Also useful: watch competitor pages for changes; reconcile inventory counts.
