Monitor ad campaigns for spend anomalies and creative fatigue
Last updated
The problem
Paid search and social campaigns can quietly burn budget over a weekend when a landing page breaks, a tracking pixel stops firing, a broad keyword spikes in spend, or a winning ad creative fatigues. Small teams do not check every ad set every morning, so wasted spend is often noticed only when the monthly invoice arrives.
How the agent works
Each morning the agent pulls read-only campaign metrics from your ad accounts (spend vs daily budget, cost per acquisition, click-through rate, conversion rate, frequency) and checks the HTTP status and load of every active destination URL. It compares each campaign against its trailing baseline and your alert thresholds, flags spend spikes, zero-conversion days, broken links, or fatiguing creatives (rising frequency with falling CTR), and sends a morning brief to Slack. For fatigued ads, it looks at your best historical hooks and drafts three new copy variants for you to review.
Setup steps
- Connect read-only reporting access to your ad platforms (such as Google Ads, Meta Ads, or LinkedIn Ads) or a daily metrics sheet
- Set explicit alert rules: daily spend over X% of budget, CPA above threshold, zero conversions after N clicks, destination URL not returning 200, or CTR drop over 7 days
- Have the agent check every active destination URL each morning for 404s, slow loads, or missing UTM parameters
- Have it post a short daily digest to Slack: accounts that look normal in one line, and flagged campaigns with the exact numbers and likely cause
- For ads showing creative fatigue, ask it to draft 3 replacement headlines and primary text variants based on your top-performing past ads
- Keep budget changes, bid edits, pausing campaigns, and launching new ads as manual actions taken by the marketer

Human in the loop
A marketer reviews every alert, decides whether to pause an ad or change a budget, and approves all new ad copy and creative before anything goes live in the ad account.
Risks and guardrails
Never give an agent unguarded write access to increase budgets or launch ads, as a prompt error or attribution lag can waste real money quickly. Remember that conversion reporting often lags by 24 to 72 hours, so compare against appropriate attribution windows before pausing a campaign.
ROI notes
Track how quickly broken landing pages, tracking outages, or runaway spend spikes are caught, and measure marketer time saved on morning account checks.
Also useful: monitor competitor pricing and product pages; repurpose long content into social posts; analyze campaign spreadsheets by asking questions.
